Manly Vale

Manly Dam walk is a 7.3km circuit trail around Manly Dam which is surrounded by 377 hectares of native bushland. Manly Dam Reserve is known as the largest freshwater lake in Sydney. The lake was created as a result of the damming of Curl Curl Creek (now Manly Creek) in 1892. It is nice walk on a sunny winter day and would be a good walk for those that are new to Span or haven't done a walk for a while. The route we will take is the Nature Trail, McComb Hill Track and Wildflower Walk which form part of the Manly Dam Circuit walk, before we continue on to the Wetlands, and at most northen point we will cross Manly Creek and towards end of walk we can walk on top of the Dam wall. Start of walk is at Manly Vale and I can pick up a few people from North Sydney station for anyone coming by train.

Area:
Royal National Park
Maps:
Royal National Park

The Curra Moors track is a good winter / spring walk in the Royl National Park - it is mainly coastal heath vegetation and some nice patches of eucalypts including some beautiful angophoras. The Curra Moors track meets up with the coast track where we will get some exceptional coastal views as we walk towards Curracurrong Creek and the famous Eagle Rock. Hopefully if we are lucky we will get to see some whales since we will be right in the middle of whale watching season.
Walk is about 10 km and relatively flat although few short steep hills and few steps. Plan would be to car pool from Sutherland and meet up with people coming by train.
